Manuard takes Odyssey Race

Monday April 21st 2003, Author: James Boyd, Location: Transoceanic
Experienced Mini sailor and designer Sam Manuard and his crew Mikael Mergui won the Mini class' first major event of the season - the two handed Odyssey of Ulysses race from Antibes to Hammamet and back.

After the start of the return leg being delayed several days due to blustery conditions, the 21ft Minis enjoyed blast reaching under spinnaker for the last 300 miles into the finish. First back to Antibes was Armel Tripon and Erwan LeRoux on Moulin Roty, but their time was not sufficiently far enough ahead of second home Manuard and Mergui to secure the overall win.

Top British finisher was Nick Bubb on board his new Seb Magnen design Northern Exposure finishing sixth overall.
