Sir Peter Johnson stands down

Sir Peter Johnson Bt retired as Chairman of the World Sailing Speed Record Council because of ill health, at the WSSRC General Meeting held at Eton, UK on Saturday 26 April.
The WSSRC became the sole authority for the ratification of Ocean Record in 1989 and Peter was largely instrumental for setting up the successful structure which has now grown into handling a large number of diverse record attempts on different routes around the world. He was Vice Chairman of the WSSR since 1989 and Chairman from 2000.
Claude Breton, from Brest, France was unanimously elected to suceed Peter as Chairman of the WSSR .
