Magnus Olsson, one of the most experienced offshore sailors in Sweden, has closed a deal with W.L.Gore & Associates for the Nokia Oops Cup 2004. Team GORE-TEX is the first boat team to announce their participation in the event next year.

W.L.Gore & Associates experienced a huge interest from the event and the City Races in Stockholm, Copenhagen and Oslo this year. Organiser Atlant Ocean Racing will increase the racing schedule for 2004 and the preliminary plans are to take the event not only to Sweden, Denmark and Norway but also to Helsinki in Finland and Poland or Germany. This has been of great importance for W. L Gore & Associates.

Skipper Magnus Olsson is very excited of having Gore as partner for next year.
"It feels great to have time to be able to prepare properly and hopefully we manage to get revenge from last year when we did not succeed to win overall."

Gunnar Carlsson, managing director at Gore, believes this will give GORE-TEX the opportunity to be an important communicator in the Nordic capitols during next summer. "Our customers are mostly very active outdoor people and sailing is huge in summer time. Through Nokia Oops Cup 2003 we had a possibility to be present in an environment where many spend their leisure time.

"The 60ft trimaran is one of the fastest boats of its size. They are built with high technology standards and sailing as a sport with high demands on sportsmanship suits well with our company’s values."

The ever-smiling Magnus Olsson
