The red Open 60 beats Golding's new steed

Roland Jourdain and Alex Thomson on board Sill crossed the finish line of the Transat Jacques Vabre at 12:09:11 GMT today to take second place in the Open 60 division behind first placed Virbac, which arrived this morning.

Their crossing time was 16 days 22 hours 9 minutes and 11 seconds at an average speed of 10.69 knots and 6 hours 51 minutes and 6 seconds behind the leaders.

19 minutes and 26 seconds Mike Golding and Brian Thompson on board Ecover crossed the line at 12:28:37GMT. Their time is 16d 22h 28m 37s at an aveage speed on theor 10.68 knots.

Despite ETAs showing them to be in earlier this morning the two boats were delayed and it was only in rounding the final headland and covering the last five miles of the course that the wind picked up to around 15 knots and the boats were able to beat to eh finish.
