The organisers of the Timberland Euro Prix have invited the Royal Yachting Association, as the National Authority, to enter a Great Britain Team into the event. The RYA invites those syndicates interested in representing Great Britain in the forthcoming Timberland Euro Prix to submit a comprehensive proposal for consideration by the Racing Division's Offshore Group for selection into the event.
The event is to be sailed in the Euro Prix 45 (IC45) class yachts and is due to start on 1 May 2004 in Italy and will conclude on 21 June in Scandinavia, with stop-overs in Spain, Portugal, France, Great Britain and Germany and will be a mixture of inshore and offshore racing.
Due to the nature of the event the funding to compete will need to come from sponsorship and the estimated budget for the event is in the region of £450,000.
There is no limit on the number of crew changes or any classification restrictions.
Any proposal should be in line with the Preliminary Notice of Race and include a full list of names of those within the crew together with a profile of their relevant experience, a full and comprehensive financial breakdown and a schedule of training prior to the event.
It is a requirement for selection that 2 places within the crew be under 23, it is also expected that any syndicate would draw upon the Volvo RYA Keelboat Programme to fill these positions.
A letter of intent to submit a proposal should be received at the RYA by 1 August 2003 and a full proposal by 16 August. The team selected will be announced by the 31 August 2003.
