Boat number two is now ready for this summer’s fastest race, the Nokia Oops Cup.
One of the most talented offshore sailors in the world Swede Magnus Olsson will skipper the 60ft trimaran GORE-TEX and challenge Dane Stefan Myrälf and his crew on the Nokia trimaran. The name and crew of the third trimaran taking part in the Nokia Oops Cup will also be announced soon.
The first race for GORE-TEX will be the Round Lidingö Race starting on Saturday 10th of May.
"I have sailed in GORE-TEX for ten years but this is the first time that I will be sailing on GORE-TEX. It will be an exciting summer with the Round Lidingö Race serving as an exciting prologue to the Nokia Oops Cup, which starts in Oslo on 12 June and ends with the Accenture Gotland Runt on 30 June," says Olsson.
For GORE-TEX and the company W.L. Gore & Associates Scandinavia AB, the co-operation with Mange Olsson, Atlant Ocean Racing and the participation in the Nokia Oops Cup, provides a perfect opportunity to test their products under tough conditions - on very demanding users.
"We want to work closely with our customers and foul weather gear is one of the most demanding applications for our materials. Trimarans are high tech and sail faster than anything else, which suits us. Sailing is also a clean sport and represents values such as sportsmanship which is well in accordance with our company’s values and image, says Gunnar Carlsson, Managing Director at W.L. Gore & Associates Scandinavia AB.
More and more, large companies are being attracted to the big multi-hulls. In addition to Gore-Tex, Atlant are proud to announce a co-operation with Accenture who will be co-partner on the GORE-TEX trimaran.
