Joyon departs homeport

Maxi trimaran IDEC heads out to sea ready for departure on round the world record attempt

At 1500 precisely Francis Joyon cast the lines off his maxi-trimaran IDEC and headed off from La Trinite-sur-Mer's Quai Loic Caradec. Conditions were not great - an overcast sky and rain. Joyon is heading towards Brest where he will remain on stand-by to start his record attempt round the world single-handed westabout (with the prevailing winds) tomorrow.
