Nylöf to campaign Oops Cup

Trimaran skipper has new sponsor and powerful former Whitbread/Volvo management team

The HiQ Sailing Team 2003, with Klabbe Nylöf at the helm, is going all out to win the Nokia Oops Cup this summer. Other races lined up for the team include the Accenture Gotland Runt, Sjaelland Runt and Faerder Race. The Trimaran the team will be sailing is one of the fastest sailboats in the world, and speeds of around 30 knots are not uncommon.

Behind the initiative HiQ Sailing Team 2003 is a team with many years experience of the Whitbread and Volvo Ocean Race as well as project management at a global level. Klabbe Nylöf (skipper) and Roger Nilson (navigator) are managing the project with Pelle Norberg (project manager) and Lotti Ander.

Klabbe Nylöf has most recently sailed the Cape-Rio Transatlantic Race, and was first across the finishing line below Sugar Loaf Mountain in Rio. HiQ Sailing Team 2003 has set its sights on winning all of the races this summer.

"My ambition has always been to win at any given opportunity. Trimaran sailing is an exciting challenge, where margins are tight and strategy is important. I look forward to proving my team’s full potential this summer, by out-sailing accomplished sailors from the whole Nordic region," says Klabbe Nylöf.

The boat is to be launched today on Sweden’s national day, and appropriately enough, the crew is dressed in yellow and blue.

The Nokia Oops Cup

The Nokia Oops Cup is a sail racing competition for Formula 60 trimarans. The competition includes the City Races and Offshore Races in the Nordic countries.
