Alex Thomson's monohull record falls

Solune, the 60ft monohull skippered by JP Chomette crossed the Lizard finish line at 21.41 last night, to claim an elapsed time of 7 days 4 hours 46 minutes and 22 seconds for the 1787nm course round Britain and Ireland.

This exceeds the existing monohull record held by Alex Thomson by more than three days
