Following the OSTAR and the circumnavigations of Sir Francis Chichester, the Sunday Times newspaper ran the highly ambitious and first ever non-stop singlehanded round the world race in 1968 - the Golden Globe. This was won by Robin (now Sir Robin) Knox-Johnston aboard the monohull Suhaili.
