A quick look at Jonny Malbon's new Simon Rogers-designed IMOCA Open 60 Artemis 2

Jonny Malbon's brand spanking new Artemis Ocean Racing 2, the one and only new IMOCA Open 60 to be designed by Simon Rogers, is due for launch in Ocean Village, Southampton tomorrow. More details on the boat follow this but from initial impressions see looks, like the new Juan K-designed Pindar, to be more of a 2012 generation boat in terms of her features and her extreme power. The cord of her giant wingmast is by far the largest of all the new generation Open 60s we have seen, while she also has several tricks up her sleeve such as an 'interceptor', as fitted to the new Ecover and Aviva, however in this case is has been bolted on to the transom.

More obviously after we have had the opportunity to crawl around the boat tomorrow...
