Nigel King Yachting is delighted to announce a new partnership with leading marina operator Dean & Reddyhoff Marinas. Nigel King will now be able to base his 2009 campaign for La Solitaire du Figaro from the prestigious Portland Marina, D&R’s newest development. The site is the largest single marina to be constructed in the UK for 15 years

“I am delighted to be able to base myself out of the UK. To have use of the facilities at this world class marina is a huge boost to my campaign. With winter storage and state of the art marina facilities, I will be able to devote more time to my boat preparation and training while also making my campaign much more visible within the UK. This partnership demonstrates clearly that there are companies out there that recognise the benefits of supporting British sailing teams in the gruelling world of shorthanded sailing, one of the largest growth areas of our sport”. commented Nigel King.

James Beaver, Operations Director at Dean & Reddyhoff Marinas, said: “Dean & Reddyhoff has a long tradition of supporting British sailors - we are currently the official berthing facility for the Offshore Challenges Sailing Team and also support several other well known names including Alex Thomson (Hugo Boss) and Brian Thompson (Pindar). We are delighted to welcome Nigel King to our new marina at Portland and wish him every success with his Figaro campaign.”

Not only will Nigel be basing his three year campaign from Portland, but two further British Figaro sailors have also expressed an interest in training with him there, as well as several of the French competitors. Nigel added: “There could not be a better place to
base my campaign from. Portland Harbour and Weymouth Bay offer fantastic sheltered water for winter training and France is easily accessible.”

This move also means that Nigel can expand his search for a title sponsor whilst maintaining his stringent training schedule.

“There is no doubt that being based at the sailing venue for the 2012 Olympics will offer potential sponsors a genuine opportunity to see the benefits of a campaign first hand. I will have the capacity to be far more hands on with clients and maybe even get them out on the water to experience the exhilaration of sailing first hand!”

Nigel will be based in Portland from December 2008 with his first event on the 2009 calendar in March. Within the sport, Nigel is known for his enthusiasm, patience, determination and sense of humour and these qualities have been clearly demonstrated over the last 18 months with his key involvement with Dee Caffari and Aviva, as well as RYA Keelboat training.
