Team Russia brings in Moscow-based yachting photographer Sergey Bogdanov (45) as media crew member on Leg 3 of the Volvo Ocean Race in place of Mark Covell. Sergey trained extensively with the Team in the UK prior to the start of the race while running his own photo agency in Russia.

As onboard media crewman on Kosatka, Sergey will provide a unique insight into life onboard the Volvo Open 70, bringing his own impressions and perspective on the Team during the 1950 nautical mile race from Cochin to Singapore. Bi-lingual in Russian and English, Sergey will contribute special Russian content alongside his daily media tasks.
Winning several awards in keelboat events, Sergey is the vice-president of Russian International Dragon Association.

In addition to running his own photo agency and acting as an official photographer at leading Russian and international sailing events, Sergey is also the art director and photographer of “Berega Musky” yachting magazine and is experienced in video and TV camera work.

Mark Covell, Team Russia’s media man is enjoying sharing ‘the tricks of the trade’ he has picked up in the first two legs with Sergey. “It’s great we have a Russian journalist reporting in Russian from a Russian boat, enthuses Mark. “It will bring a different perspective and add additional colour to the media assets coming off the boat.”
Mark is flying home for Christmas and hopes to rejoin the team in Singapore for the start of Leg 4.
