Below: the Farr Open 60s use a single ram arrangement to cant the keel. This is mounted on the starboard side between two bulkheads.

Above: the rudder its up position. This is typically raised to reduce drag on one tack. However a flaw was found in raising the board just by 90deg during the Vendee Globe when the rudders were susceptible to damage from wave impact. Next time round we expect they will lift through 180deg. Below: pit area, showing the hydraulic controls
