Banque Populaire to Brest
Wednesday December 9th 2009, Author: James Boyd, Location: United Kingdom
On Friday Pascal Bidegorry and his crew will deliver
Banque Populaire V from their base by the submarine silos of Lorient to Brest, where they will continue to remain on stand-by for the attempt at record of the Jules Verne Trophy .
They are making this move on Friday as the weather has been too bad to get out of Lorient before and Brest is closer to the start line for the Jules Verne Trophy.
"We decided to move to Brest because that enables us on the one hand to sail some more with our full while on the other it gets us closer to Ushant. For more than one month conditions in Lorient have very difficult. We should have favourable weather on Friday to make the delivery in 25 knots of wind from the southeast. We will arrive at Brest in mid-afternoon when the boat will continue to be on stand-by. For the moment there is no window weather on the horizon for us to leave in record, so it will be necessary for us to have patience for a little longer."
