Sam Davies reports

And where are all the flying fish?

Thursday November 19th 2009, Author: Sam Davies, Location: United Kingdom
I am writing this as Artemis is rocketing along, propelled by a nice friendly rain squall (they are not all friendly I can assure you!)

There are wafts of a flowery-clean smell drifting into the boat from the cockpit as Sidney is making the most of the rain to have a shower (his first of the race, I might add, on day 10!!) There are also little whoops of joy.... celebration of the boatspeed being 17 knots and him being clean I think.... and he is describing the colour of the water that is coming off him, but I will save you from these details!

I am looking at weather files and depressing postion reports! We are trying to avoid the windless zones that are coming up behind us and trying to catch us. We really are doing everything we can to try to catch the guys in front...

I have a question too. I was wondering this last night, as night time out here in the trade winds is often animated by the flying fish attacks. Where have the flying fish gone? They're not flying at the moment... maybe there is a terrorist alert in flying fish land and they have all been temporarily grounded....?? Or maybe their fishy air traffic control team have gone on strike...??
