Chippewa took the fleet lead in the 2008 Onion Patch following the 154th New York Yacht Club Annual Regatta. This came after scoring a 7-2 for 9 points in the regatta. There are 34 individual entries competing for the Henry B Du Pont Trophy and 4 three-boat teams sailing for the Onion Patch Trophy.
The leading 3-boat team after the New York Yacht Club Regatta is the US Sailing Team comprised of George David in his Reichel Pugh 90 Rambler, David Askew and Ken Comerford in their J/122 Flying Jenny and Hap Fauth’s new Reichel Pugh 69 Bella Mente.
The second stage of the Onion Patch Series, the 2008 Newport Bermuda Race starts at 1:00PM on Friday June 20 and the finale is the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club Anniversary Regatta on June 27.
