Dockwise Yacht Transport open operations in Italy

Dockwise Yacht Transport (DYT) has announced new European headquarters in Genoa, Italy, to better service its European clients. Bert Nieuwenhuizen, a Dutch national who for the last seven years has managed the export business of Boero Colori, the Italian yacht-paint producer, will manage the office and oversee its operations.

DYT is the world's only provider of yacht transportation on a regular liner service. Based in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., the company operates a fleet of dedicated semi-submersible yacht carriers, offering float on/float off service that is unique in the shipping industry.

DYT President and CEO Clemens van der Werf said: "Our reputation with owners and captains of charter, racing, fishing and private luxury yachts is built as much on personalized service as it is on convenience, safety and reliability. Our office in France and our agents in locations such as Palma de Mallorca will work closely with Bert to enhance the customer experience."

Nieuwenhuizen said he will focus on the strong new-build industry in Southern Europe and Italy, giving many of the company's existing and potential clients the luxury of having DYT at their doorsteps. "With our new super ship, the 687.5-foot (209 meter) Yacht Express, added to make five in the DYT fleet, the company has larger capacity and faster service for transatlantic voyages and throughout Europe," he explained.

DYT's global routes include the U.S. East Coast (Newport, Rhode Island and Port Everglades, Florida), the Mediterranean (Toulon, France; Genoa, Italy; Marmaris, Turkey; Palma de Mallorca, Spain), Northern Europe (La Rochelle and Cherbourg, France), the Caribbean (St. Thomas, Martinique and Freeport), the Pacific West Coast (Golfito, Costa Rica; La Paz and Ensenada, Mexico and Vancouver, B.C., Canada) and the South Pacific (Papeete, Tahiti; Auckland, New Zealand and Brisbane, Australia).
