Kos and Sail 4 Cancer team up for charity calendar

Sail 4 Cancer are proud to announce their latest fund raising initiative to help improve the quality of life for people living with cancer: a prestigious and unique calendar featuring the work of renowned marine sports photographer, Kos.

Kos first came to notice whilst she was still a student when she climbed a square rigger mast for a bet during the London Boat Show. She saw what a great picture it would make and went back for her camera. The Daily Express picked up on it and her picture made the papers the next day.




Her commitment to – and fame for - taking shots from new and unusual angles, whatever the danger, has continued from that moment onwards. Shooting from such tricky places as mastheads, powerboats, helicopters and on horseback, Kos’s huge repertoire of sporting photography includes being official photographer for America’s Cup teams, Whitbread Campaigns, the McLaren Formula 1 Team, the J&B White Water Rafting Championships and the European Horseball Championships.

When Sail 4 Cancer approached Kos with view to producing a calendar to help raise funds for the charity, she thought it was “a brilliant idea, as sailing imagery is a wonderful window into the beauty of sailing.” Kos has great sympathy for the cause as her family have battled with cancer over a number of generations.

Sail 4 Cancer raise money not only for cancer treatment and research, but also to try and help improve the quality of life for those living with cancer. This last aim is achieved mainly through offering sailing opportunities to cancer patients and their families, an idea that Kos appreciates fully. “Sailing is an excellent way to help you rejuvenate health and vitality by helping you focus on the qualities of life, fresh air and space of the oceans.”
