Round the world one design

Construction of mould now underway at Charlie Capelle's yard in France

Wednesday November 15th 2006, Author: James Boyd, Location: France
Work is progressing on the construction of the hull mould of the Oceanic One Design intended for racing in the Solo-Oceans, the singlehanded round the world race in one designs, due to start from a French port on 25 October 2009.

Thanks to the efforts of Technologie Marine Company run by Charlie Capelle, in charge of the construction of the hull and deck moulds of this Finot-Conq design (in consultation with Michel Desjoyeaux) the construction of the new boat is on schedule.

The first Oceanic One Design will be ready to set off on a round the world reconnaissance voyage promoting the race in October 2007, on the same course as the solo-sailors will sail two years later: France-New Zealand-France around the three legendary Capes (Good Hope, Leeuwin and Horn).
