On Sunday 10 December, Swedish skipper Isabelle Mungsgård (first female skipper to do the attempt) and her crew on a SeaCart 30 trimaran
3 start the Midwinter Challenge to set a new record round the Swedish island of Gotland in the 30ft multihull class. The course is open from 1 December until the end of February is 311 nm long and starts and finishes in Sandhamn. The previous record is 35 hours, 58 min and 10 sec, but this time the crew hopes to finish close to 24 hours.
"We have been waiting for the wind to shift to west after weeks of southerlies. At present Sunday morning lookes very good. It's going to be a real challenge in the dark to beat the old record," says Isabelle Mungsgård. At this time of year the sun rises around 0900 and sets around 1500.

Isabelle Munsgard: The list of her dinghy and match racing experience is already long, and she has only started her career!
Anders Lewander: sailed on Cayenne in the Oryx Quest, sailmaker at North Sails Sweden. Currently holder of the RGMC record.
Rickard Oberpichler: Fanatical offshore sailor and former dinghy pro. Responsible for two SeaCart 30s in Sweden.
Calle Hennix: Whitbread and AC sailor and also the creator of SeaCart 30. Currently holder of the RGMC record.
