Orange returns to red

Weather window closes for transat record attempt

Monday June 12th 2006, Author: James Boyd, Location: Transoceanic
The window of opportunity that Bruno Peyron has been studying for a few days with the intention of setting sail from New York on 14 June has closed up again.

The conditions in the North Atlantic are not providing the crew of Orange II with the possibility of attempting this rapid crossing, where they need to average almost 30 knots. The skipper of the maxi Orange II therefore decided yesterday evening to go back to Red Code.

The eyes of the shore-based weather team are now fixed on a possible start on 19 or 20 June
