On Sunday early in the afternoon, Médiatis Région Aquitaine left Arcachon for the Canaries Islands, with on board a crew of six: Yves Parlier, Lalou Roucayrol, Romaric Neyhousser, Stéphane Hervé, Christophe Gouineau and Rémi Beauvais.

Médiatis Région Aquitaine has been undergoing an intensive test program down in her homeport, the Basin of Arcachon since June 2005. After 20 outings where all the latest modifications to the boat have been made so she is now en route to Gran Canaria and her training base.

On the cards this time around is to make an attempt on the solo outright 24 hour record, of 540 miles set by Laurent Bourgnon on the trimaran Primagaz.
