Silva, the Swedish based marine electronics and navigation company, has announced a major upgrade of its NX2 instrumentation package wiith introduction of the fully compatible NX2 Race and NX2 Cruise software suites. The company says that this takes their flagship instrument system to new levels of functionality previously unavailable to the mainstream market.
The NX2 Race software puts a highly advanced tool in the hands of the racing navigator by enabling a personal computer to combine the highly accurate data collected by the NX2 instrumentation with the processing power of the software package via Silva’s bespoke ultra-high speed Fast Data eXchange (FDX) network protocol. The result is a host of data manipulation and analysis functions available at the touch of a keyboard, including a revolutionary automatic, three-step calibration process including T.R.U.E.™ wind, data logging and non-interrupted navigation.
For cruising sailors the NX2 Cruise offers the core functions of NX2 Race, and is now being included with all new NX2 instrumentation servers. Users who wish to upgrade to the Race package can download the software for free and apply via email for a free PIN number for immediate activation.
“The new NX2 Race software will give all sailors access to information that has up until now been available only to the elite racing boats. Features such as calibration and re-calculation modules will increase performance, giving racing sailors that vital extra ounce of speed that can make the difference between winning and losing ” says Jan Silfvén, product manager of Silva Marine.
