Following the signing of a new contract, B&G, the Performance Sailing Division of Simrad will continue in its role as an official Performance Partner to Ellen MacArthur and Offshore Challenges Sailing Team, for another four years. B&G has officially provided dedicated support and assistance for the last three years. The extension of the partnership will ensure Ellen and B&Q, along with Sam Davies and Nick Moloney, continue to benefit from the support of the 'Custom Projects' team at B&G.
“I've relied heavily on my B&G instruments and pilot since before the Vendée Globe back in 2000. The round the world record would have been much harder without the B&G autopilot or the confidence that B&G were there to support me night and day. I am confident that they will provide the same reliable and accurate performance for my transatlantic record attempt,” says Ellen MacArthur. “As a performance partner we can continue to enjoy the high-levels of support that being part of the B&G Custom Projects
program provides.
The B&G Hercules system onboard B&Q provides Ellen with precise wind information, helping her to make the best tactical and strategic decisions. The Hercules autopilot helped Ellen to steer her course for over 27,000 miles during her circumnavigation, whilst the revolutionary RemoteVision provided her with full wireless control from anywhere on B&Q, even when up the mast.
“We have built a strong relationship with the Offshore Challenges Sailing Team and are looking forward to continuing our work with the team over the next 4 years,” says Richard Acland, Managing Director, B&G. “During Ellen's forthcoming transatlantic record attempt we will be offering her 24-hour support, and she will benefit from the same B&G equipment onboard B&Q that assisted her on her record breaking circumnavigation.”
