Frenchman sets off to break Laurent Bourgnon's solo W-E transatlantic record

Having left New York harbour last night in order to reach the start line off the Ambrose Light, so Francis Joyon and his maxi-trimaran IDEC crossed the starting line of their west to east singlehanded rcord attempt this morning at 08:42:26' GMT.

To beat Laurent Bourgnon's record, IDEC must reach the Lizard before 7 July at 11:16:08' GMT.
