The finish between Karine Fauconnier's Sergio Tacchini and Lalou Roucayrol's Banque Populaire for fifth place in The Transat was a spectacular one. At the 1500GMT position report Fauconnier was 10 miles astern of Roucayrol, but in the end she was able to slip past him to arrive 30 minutes ahead. Banque Populaire has been sailing for the last half of the race with a split in her mainsail which Roucayrol says he repaired using two battens. "It is like running a four cylinder engine on three cylinders," he says.
Listen to the audio from Karine Fauconnier and fourth placed Alain Gautier.
