Ross Hobson and his 43ft trimaran
Mollymawk have set a new record between Bermuda and Plymouth. Hobson, sailing with a crew of two covered the 2,870 nautical mile course in a time of 14 days 6 hours 12 minutes and 50 seconds at an average of 8.38 knots.
The record is currently awaiting ratification from the World Sailing Speed Record Council. The previous holder of this record was Eric Tabarly who sailed Pen Duick VI on this passage in a time 14d 20h 15m 12s. This was back in 1974.
