Today, Sam Davies gained the best results of her solo Figaro season to date with two top ten finishes as consistent, strong winds resulted in a challenging day for the entire Figaro fleet.

"The challenging conditions of the penultimate day's racing tested even the most experienced sailor. In these conditions, errors are more frequent and it is the stronger, more experienced sailors that take the lead positions" commented Gilles Chiorri, event coordinator.

Davies, one of only three women competing in the Generali Solo, was elated by her day on the water: "I am really pleased, gaining my best results in the event so far. Two good results proves that it is not a fluke and that I am on the pace."

Sam finished 10th and 7th in the inshore races off Porquerolles keeping her 12th overall position out of the 35 in the event with just one day of racing in long haul event remaining.

"Both races today were windward/leeward courses and sailed in 25-30 knots of winds. The wind was steady and I managed to maintain good boat speed. In the windy conditions people make more mistakes I was able to capitalise on this. I did all my manouvers early, didn't make too many errors and stayed on the right side of the course. At the first leeward mark rounding in the second race, I was in third place, it was awesome!

"I am really happy to be 12th in the overall rankings. I have closed the gap on the front pack and there is now a bigger gap immediately behind me than in front. My aim for tomorrow is to sail another couple of good races and stay up there with good guys," concluded an elated Davies.

The day saw tight competition for the top three places in the Figaro Generali Solo, with one victory for Cercle Verte, one for Malongo, Generali Assurances taking second places in both events.

In the event's overall ranking Yann Eliès, is now in a strong position to become overall victor but tomorrow's final leg in this marathon event will be a decisive one for the remaining podium positions.
