Frostad continues winning streak

Knut Frostad and his crew onboard the Norwegian trimaran
Academy retain their dominance of the Nokia Oops Cup. By winning all races in the Stockholm City Race on 5 June, they proved that last week’s victory in Helsinki was no coincidence. A clear second was Magnus Olsson with crew aboard
Gore-Tex, finishing runner-up in all races, ahead of Klas Nylof on
HiQ.
Stockholm put on a magnificent display on Saturday afternoon. Thousands of spectators followed the racing up close from the quays lining the course area in the centre of the city. They were offered many spectacular manoeuvres in the gusty and sometimes strong wind.
But the real drama never really set in. Team Academy proved too good for that. “We did really well today, I can’t remember when I last won three straight races,” Knut Frostad said after his performance. “But I’m not certain we would have beaten Magnus and Gore-Tex in the first race, had we not had a faster boat. He sailed really well that race.”
Knut Frostad has an excellent crew, working extremely well together. They also have a very fast boat, and will prove hard to beat for the other teams in the Nokia Oops Cup, now moving on to Oslo for races the coming Thursday and Friday.
“But sailing here in Stockholm was fantastic,” Frostad said. “We had winds of more than 20 knots, a good course, the sun was shining and eventually things got dramatic when a huge cruise ship entered the course.”
