Orange II fails

But have gone again today!

Orange II, Bruno Peyron's G Class catamaran has failed to beat the Round the Island Race record this morning. She did however take line honours and beat Francis Joyon's Idec into second by 17 minutes. Light South Easterly breezes struggled to propel the big cat to a record race win.

Finishing at 09.17.47s Orange II completed her circumnavigation in 3hrs 17min and 47s, she has however set off again, in a bit more breeze. It will be astonishing if she could actually beat the current WSSR distance record, which is held by Steve Fossett's Playstation in 2hrs and 33mins.

It will certainly be a great site for all the competitors, only a few of which will have seen the cat leave early this morning in the first start.
