As Geronimo heads for Cape of Good Hope

Saturday March 13th 2004, Author: James Boyd, Location: Transoceanic
Position at 2317GMT: 43°54 S 0°31 E
24 hour run: 523,73 miles
Average speed: 21.80

Geronimo continues to close on the longitude of the Cape of Good Hope are record breaking pace. At present we calculate her to be 647 miles ahead of Orange's 2002 Jules Verne Trophy pace and 154 miles ahead of Cheyenne's position at the end of her 16th day at sea.

With a high pressure system between her and South Africa, Geronimo is likely to continue her course slightly south of due east but whether or not she will head south of Crozet and the Prince Edward Islands as Cheyenne did, remains to be seen.

The forecast is looking very promising for the next two days for the French crew.
