Another Figaro heavyweight is set to join the ranks of the singlehanded offshore one design class.
Bruno Jourdren's new Figaro Beneteau 2, D'aucy, was launched in Vannes yesterday at a ceremony attended by 60 members of the Morbihan-based company.
Although he has never won a Figaro race, Jourdren is a regular in the top 10 'Figarists' and he has had considerable success in other classes. In particular in the Beneteau First Class 8 he is a three time European champion and has come second in the Worlds. He is a regular crewman on Jean le Cam's Bonduelle trimaran and sailed in the Calais Round Britain Race on board Bernard Stamm's Open 60 Bobst Group-Armor Lux.
Jourdren's first race will be the Figaro class' two handed Trophée BPE Saint Nazaire Dakar race which starts on 21 September. Sailing with him will be another talented Figaro sailor, Yann Eliès.
