Rainbow in the driving seat

Prior to setting off on their 110 mile offshore race to Marseilles via the Porquerolles, the Mumm 30s taking place in the Route des Iles, squeezed in an inshore race around an Olympic course in the shadow of Calvi's majestic citadel.
Once again German Bent Dietrich's Rainbow proved dominant, with sound tactics in the westerly breeze helping to notch up their third consecutive win and consolidate their lead in the overall results. Dimitri Deruelle on Marseilles-Cape Sport and Jimmy Pahun seasoned Region Ile de France team are still in contention though.
"They will be hard to beat," commented Jimmy Pahun on the German/British team. "But the Route des Iles helps us calibrate ourselves prior to the Worlds next in Elba."
The offshore race then got underway at 1400. The forecast for the offshore race does not predict there being more than 20 knots of breeze.
