Thursday October 30th 2003, Author: James Boyd, Location: Transoceanic
Weather for 1200 Saturday (monohull start)
An occluded front is expected to sweep the English channel over the course of the day resulting in the wind veer from the southwest to the west and on round to the northwest - the timing of this we will have to wait and see. 20-25 knot winds are expected for the start.
Weather for 1200GMT Sunday - big breeze!
Southwesterly winds of 30-40 knots associates with a low pressure to the northwest of Scotland are expected to sweep the Channel. Conditions are expected to go light on Monday followed by the onset of another major depression on the Tuesday (although this is set to track to the north of the UK and is forecast to bring less severe winds to the channel).
