Competitors in Around Alone, Route du Rhum or Global Challenge or in any major offshore race will no doubt be thankful for a new service recently introduced by satellite communications giant, Inmarsat.
Following a three month pilot project run in May 2001, Inmarsat are now enabling any of their 60,000+ Inmarsat C users to send flowers to loved ones ashore via this mode of satellite telex.
The service is run in conjunction with Interflora who are now offering an increased selection of bouquets. Prices start at $38 and flowers can be sent with a personal message. Presumably such as "MAYDAY".
