Ace French snapper publishes pictorial epic in French and English

Gilles Martin-Raget, who in thedailysail's view has for years been one of the top three photographers in yacht racing, has published a new book of his sailing images.

Marseille-based Martin-Raget, who is currently official photographer for the America's Cup, has been a marine photographer for some 30 years and the coffee table book entitled The Legend of the Sea is a reflection of this. The book is interestingly laid out in themes, covering many different aspects of our sport. Many of photos in the book will be familiar - the photo of the ORMA 60 Fujifilm passing Ushant in wind-against-tide waves (see below) was our colleague Andy Nicholson's screen saver for many years.

Although published in France, The Legend of the Sea has also been published in the English language by Bloomsbury. Price £50.
