Clever cleat
It's rare that we feature something as mundane as a cleat on thedailysail. However Italian deck gear manufacturer Antal has come up with 'Roller', a new folding cleat.
There's not much to the concept - the Roller swivels. Normally the cleat's horns are kept, thereby avoiding stubbed toes, etc. To wrap a mooring line around the cleat its horns are swivelled up, howevr the construction of the roller and its finish is such that its horns can be turned down once again with a mooring on it. A safety ceramic sphere keeps the horns in their 'opened' or 'locked' positions, even when the cleat is under load.
Roller is available in hard black anodised aluminum - a finishing that resists greately to all marine conditions - and in Silver anodised - like all traditional cleats. It is available in four different sizes for boats up to 70ft.
