Blu Moon and Giogi tied

Two more races held at the Magic Marine Melges 24 European Championship

After two days and after five races, the leaderboard at the Magic Marine Melges 24 European Championship is becoming defined.

Although it is impossible to choose a single favorite, it has become clear that the fight for the European title involves early leader Blu Moon (today 1-5), Italian Champion Matteo Balestrero aboard Giogi (3-2), who claimed the title Boat of the Day and is on equal points with the crew of the former World and European Champion Flavio Favini, and Audi Ultra (6-1), solid winner of the fifth race.

These crews have shown the ability to recover from compromising situations, even in challenging weather conditions such as those that have characterised the opening days of the Magic Marine Melges 24 European Championship.

Almost 20 points now separates this group from the Czechs on ICZ (5-13), fourth overall ahead of the Norwegians on Storm Capital Sail Racing (9-20) and the Estonians on Lenny (16-25), today less brilliant than usual, but still good enough to lead the Corinthian fleet.

The two races held today in Medemblik served Andrea Racchelli's Altea well. After her DNF scored in the last race yesterday, she scored a second and a third and once the discard comes into play after tomorrow's sixth race they can expect to climb from 16th position into the top five.

The Magic Marine Melges 24 European Championship, organised by the Royal Yacht Club Hollandia in collaboration with the International Melges 24 Class Association, will resume tomorrow morning at 10:30.
