Alpari back team on their Tour

Unique event with West Ham held at the Forex trader's London HQ

Alpari, global providers of forex trading services, today brought professional footballers and sailors together in the City of London. Featuring players from the English Premiere League team West Ham United, the event marked an expansion of Alpari’s global sponsorship portfolio with the announcement of Team Alpari FX, led by former ISAF Match Racing World Champion Adam Minoprio.

Alpari has shown commitment to the sports and teams who share the same passion, drive and skill as forex traders. As an official sponsor of West Ham United since 2011, Alpari recently announced that they will take over as principal sponsor of the iconic east London club from the start of the 2013/2014 season. Following the return to the Barclays Premier League this season and with the recent announcement of a new tenancy at the Olympic Stadium, West Ham United is changing the landscape in football.

With today’s announcement of Team Alpari FX joining their sponsorship portfolio, Alpari have further enhanced its commitment to the sport of sailing. Their title sponsorship of the Alpari World Match Racing Tour was announced in early 2012. This has now been extended by supporting Team Alpari FX led by New Zealand skipper Adam Minoprio, who will be joined by AWMRT Championship winning team mates Tom Powrie, Dave Swete and Nick Blackman and new recruit Chris Main as they prepare to compete on this season’s Tour.

Team Alpari FX will join West Ham United featuring the Alpari FX Trading brand on their team kit.

Today’s stunt saw West Ham United players Winston Reid, Mohamed Diame, Guy Demel and Jordan Spence meet Team Alpari FX on the rooftop of the Alpari UK headquarters. The sailors and footballers raced through the city skyscraper and hit a remarkable trick-shot at the finish line as skipper Adam Minoprio and David Swete challenged the footballers to kick a ball through a life ring from a distance of 25 yards.

The 2013 Alpari World Match Racing Tour starts in Langenargen at Match Race Germany on 16 May where Team Alpari FX will join eleven other teams for the season opening stage of the Tour. Racing will take place over five days with the knockout Quarterfinals, Semi finals and Finals scheduled for 19 and 20 May.
