Class gets off the ground in France with program set for 2013

The ten J/111s battled it out during this spring's Spi Ouest in La Trinité-sur-Mer, Brittany, has been enough to kick-start the boat as a one-design class.

Boosted by this success and at the request of the owners, the new French J/111 class has launched its own Championship.

Frédéric Bouvier, President of the French J/111 Class commented: “There are a good 40 or so J/111s in Europe and we’re keen to see them racing together as often as possible. That’s why we’re launching the European J111 Circuit with five events and a European Championship incorporated into Normandy Sailing Week.

"The aim is to have around ten J/111 one-designs competing in each race and a little over 15 boats in Le Havre. This circuit will be run in a friendly atmosphere with a number of special soirées on the programme”.
