6-0 to Trine Abrahamsen
Trine Abrahamsen from the Royal Danish Yacht Club in Skovshoved, Denmark, is alone on six victories and no matches lost so far at the Lysekil Women’s Match.
"I’m very thankful to my crew for today’s both victories," commented Abrahamsen. "They have worked hard in the warm weather and light conditions."
Abrahamsen has complimented her Danish crew for the event in Lysekil with a couple of additional Swedish girls, Annika Carlunger and Elin Åderman, who are running the foredeck: "We are really happy for having them onboard, says Trine, who during Wednesday won both her matches and climbed to the top position of the leader board with six victories totally. "Sooner or later we will be defeated in a match, but I feel fine as long as we win more than we lose."
Anne-Claire Le Berre, France, and Silvia Roca Mata, Spain, also won two matches each during Wednesdays’ races. Le Berre is now sharing second place with three more skippers - Camilla Ulrikkeholm from Denmark and the two Swedes Linda Rahm and Karin Hagström. Spain's Roca Mata is in sixth place, with three victories and as many losses: "It’s my first time in Sweden and our first regatta in these boats (the Danish DS37s), and we’ve had some difficulties in the light winds. Today we changed the sail trimming a little, making our speed higher."
The light conditions made the Wednesday in Lysekil a day of waiting - first waiting for wind in the morning before the races could begin, then waiting again when the wind dropped after just six matches. At five in the afternoon the principal race officer decided to close racing for the day.
