PHOTOS: AC45 hulls arrive in Auckland

First images of the new America's Cup one design hulls complete (or nearly...)

Thursday January 13th 2011, Author: James Boyd, Location: New Zealand

Emirates Team New Zealand photographer Chris Cameron has kindly provided us with these images of the first set of AC45 hull mouldings to arrive in Auckland. To us the bows look like those off a VPLP trimaran, but the aft half of the hull appears more Extreme 40. Note the recesses in the decks for the beams, and the aperture in the hull forward of the aft beam which looks like it should be the opening for a hatch but is presumably where a tiny cockpit well will be plugged in in due course. The cases for the asymmetric daggerboards are immediately aft of the front beams.
