Benedetto Giallongo claims round 2 of the Audi Melges 20 Series in Scarlino

Value Team, skippered by Benedetto Giallongo and his crew of helmsman Francesco Scarselli and tactician Henry Fonda won the second stage of the 2010 Audi Melges 20 Sailing Series in Scarlino, Italy.

Giallongo’s team posted an almost perfect score line, showing the same brilliance as they did 2009. In doing so they have closed the gap on the 2010 series leaders.

With his impressive lead, Giallongo easily took first place in Scarlino, but the heat was on for securing the second and third place positions and beyond.

In the two races held today, Renato Vallivero on Turnover, with Marco Perazzo on the helm and Daniele Cassinari on tactics, managed second in the first race, and when on to win the second. This enabled Vallivero, the stage on winner in Lerici to rise from from 11th to finish fourth overall.

Stefano di Properzio on Hulk, with Lorenzo Bressani on tactics, made some tough choices to finish third overall, only to be beaten by Luca Domenici on Notaro Team taking second place on the podium.
