Women's match racers head for Calpe
Organised by the Real Club Nautico Calpe and held over 4-8 May, the XII International Women's Match Race Criterium Internacional will draw together the top ranked women's match racers.
On the open day the 11 crews were welcomed at the Club's premises in Calpe, for final registration and weighing.
Difficult weather conditions, including uncharacteristic cold and heavy rain characterized the preliminary training sessions during which the crews had the chance to get to know the Tom 28 boats that will be used for racing.
The Opening ceremony was held at the Salón Belliure of Real Club Náutico Calpe at the presence of local authorities and skippers, including last years' winner, Claire Leroy.
Now in its 12th edition, the Criterium Internacional is an ISAF Grade 1 event and has proved itself to be one of the season's unmissable match-racing events, as confirmed by the presence of a top level lineup:
