The Audi MedCup's newest GP42 Series team, John Bassadone's Botin Carkeek-designed Peninsula Petroleum, has been first of the fleet out training off the Spanish port of Burriana Nova, 35 km north of Valencia, the home of boatbuilders Longitud Cero. Bassadonne's team acquired the former Turismo Madrid, and Chimo Lopez and his team have made some alterations to the keel during the winter.

Project manager Iñaki Castaner, no stranger to the MedCup Circuit as former skipper-helm of the TP52 ONO, comments: “We had a nice crew training with perfect wind condition in Burriana. We focused on testing the electronics system, getting to know the rig tuning and some other mechanical details.

“John Bassadone, the owner-driver, is very happy with the boat and the team’s motivation, we are very happy with the crew work and to be sailing again with a real young but experienced sailing team. Our target was to check and know the boat, the mast, the sails, the systems, the winches and the new keel: Everything looks all right and I believe that we are almost ready for racing this week end in Palma Vela.”
