King of Spain to sail in Admiral's Cup

Powerful second Spanish team enter the fray

RORC have today confirmed that a second Spanish team from the Real Club Nautico San Genjo of Galicia, and sponsored by Telefonica, has entered the Admiral's Cup 2003.

The team comprises Bribon Telefonica Movistar, the recently launched Jason Ker designed 55' IRC boat owned by Jose Cusi. His Majesty King Juan Carlos of Spain will skipper the boat and the crew includes Eddie Warden-Owen as tactician and Bouwe Bekking as principal helmsman.

The IMS600 entry is the Rodman 42 Telefonica Movistar, owned and skippered by Pedro Campos. The boat will have crew from Campos' 2002 Copa del Rey winning team, and also includes John Miller from the Volvo 60 Illbruck and Jens Christiansen.

RORC are also delighted to announce that leading yachting clothing manufacturers, Henri-Lloyd, have been appointed as Official Clothing Suppliers to the 2003 Admiral's Cup.

Paul Strzelecki, Joint Chief Executive of Henri-Lloyd commented: "Henri-Lloyd has been involved with The Admiral's Cup since the Company was formed in 1963. As we celebrate our 40th year in business we are delighted to be involved with The Royal Ocean Racing Club and the Admiral's Cup once again."

We now have eight confirmed entries from four different countries, with teams from the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club of Australia, UNCL of France and the other Spanish team from the Real Club Nautico of Vigo, in addition to teams from the Royal Ocean Racing Club, the Royal Southern Yacht Club, the Royal Thames Yacht Club and the recently announced Sailability sailing under the burgee of the Cowes Corinthian Yacht Club from Great Britain," commented Peter Wykeham-Martin, General Manager, RORC.
