Frosty conditions

For round two of the Royal Southampton Yacht Club's present series

Monday January 19th 2004, Author: Simon Forbes, Location: United Kingdom
The second race of the Royal Southampton Yacht Club’s Frostbite series was
held on Sunday 18th January and saw 32 boats venture out in bright sunshine
and a northerly breeze of around 8 knots which peaked at 14 knots and at
times died away.

The Race Management Team set the Committee Boat near Netley buoy. As the
breeze died away the Race Committee shortened the course for all three
classes at different marks.

Class 1 saw Mike Henning’s Mumm 36 Alice take line honours but victory on
corrected time by 36 seconds went to Mike Moxley’s HOD 35 Malice. Second was
Andy Hill’s Just Enough with third Clemency William’s J/105 Jos of Hamble.

Last week’s winner Ed Holton’s J/110 Shades of Blue ran aground cheating the
tide and was unable to finish.

Class 2 saw Steve Sault’s Sigma 33 Hooligan take line honours by 10 minutes.
First on corrected time was Richard Walker’s Urchin II by one minute from
Hooligan with Simon Potter’s First 211 Loki third.

In the Multihull Class, Tim Wilson’s Dragonfly 800 Blue Minnell was first to
finish and won on corrected time from Simon Forbes’ Dragonfly 800 Scooby III
with Steve Hewitt’s Corsair F28R Triptych 2 third.

The RSYC Frostbite series continues on Sunday 1st February.
