The British Dragon Association with support from Aberdeen Asset Management,
is this year offering a raffle prize with a difference. Dragon Sailors entering events throughout the year will be awarded tickets, the prize being a brand new Borresen Dragon complete with trailer and Holt Allen Spars which will be awarded at a ball in January 2004 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Dragon.

British Dragon Association chairman James Mehew comments "This is a superb opportunity for Dragon sailors in the U.K., with nearly 700 boats now registered in the U.K we are continually amazed that a class which is in its 75th year continues to grow at the rate it does. Next week 100 Dragons will take to the start line in Douranenez France, and we are expecting over 50 boats at the U.K. Nationals in Scotland later this year'. U.K. fleets are based all over the country and regattas offer some of the best and most competitve one design sailing in what is recognised as one of the most beautiful yachts on the water.

Far from showing its age, the class continues to attract some of the top fleet racers in Europe and they continue to sing it's praises; and ask your self this question - next year, to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the class, a regatta is taking place in St Tropez with numbers limited to 200 boats and it will be oversubscribed; would you get those numbers with 707's, Melges, Etchells or J24's? I don't think so.
