Farr 40s in the evening
Thursday February 19th 2004, Author: Sam Crichton, Location: Australasia
The annual Farr 40 Alfa Romeo Twilight series will again be hosted by Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron from February 23rd to 26th. Many of the Australian Farr 40 fleet plan to use this four day regatta for training prior to the two final Farr 40 regattas of the 2003/04 season and circuit.
Current leader of the point score circuit Marcus Blackmore, will be at the helm of Emotional Hooligan with Richard Perini on Corinthian Doors and Rob Skinner Weapon, both keen to use the four days to tighten crew work before going into the last two regattas.
Matt Allen will again be steering Lang Walker's Kokomo, before steering his Farr 52 Ichi Ban in the Offshore Championships. Walker will be back at the helm of his Far 40 for the Joico and Rosemount Nationals regattas.
Ten of the Australian fleet will line up for the Alfa Romeo series, which will start at 6pm each evening. Queensland skipper Kevin Miller will be continuing his season on Valley Tram with Steve Ellis, Dennis McDonald, Steve O'Rourke and Dick Voorderhake, all regular competitors in the class racing the fleet for next week's regatta.
